“I’d been searching for a vehicle to use to scout race courses that would be reliable, have parts easily accessible in Baja, could lock up all my gear inside and could take me wherever I wanted to go on racecourses in the United States and Mexico,” remembers Eugenio.
Eventually, he tracked down a Bronco that wasn’t completely “beat to hell," a solid base for what would become his ultimate adventure partner.
You might not recognize it at first glance, but Eugenio’s Bronco has a special heritage. He teamed up with BFGoodrich Tires to revive it, blending Rothmans Racing livery with BFGoodrich flair, a nod to both motorsport history and off-road grit.
Over the years, the Bronco has evolved through constant refinements. For Art, every upgrade is functional, each modification helps him get the perfect shot, whether he’s deep in Baja California covering the Baja 500, Baja 1000, or stateside at events like Vegas to Reno and the Parker 425.
Because for him, the secret to a great photo starts with the right rig.

Built for the Shot
Eugenio shared some of the Bronco’s impressive specs, and they tell the story of a machine built for reliability, endurance, and control in the harshest environments.
Powerplant:
An upgraded 351W engine producing just over 400 horsepower, paired with a Flowmaster muffler and oversized UMP air filter to keep dust at bay.
Drivetrain:
An E4OD automatic transmission with external coolers helps manage heat while powering through soft terrain in 120-degree conditions. The transfer case remains stock (for now). The rear features a trussed Ford 9” Yukon nodular case with Currie axles, 4.56 gears, and a Detroit locker. The front uses trussed D44 twin traction beams with matching 4.56 gearing. Custom front and rear drivelines were designed by Axis Metal Design.
Suspension:
Equipped with 2.5” King coilover 12” shocks with AGM sliders up front, and 3” King smooth body shocks in the rear, supported by a custom leaf spring pack. Additional reinforcements include Threat Motorsports swing-set steering and an interior cage by Solo Motorsports for safety.
Interior:
Features Mastercraft Baja RS seats, an ARB fridge/freezer, Lowrance GPS, PCI race radio, and a custom rack that holds a pit box, camera gear, and a spare BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire, just in case.
Exterior:
Outfitted with Baja Designs LED lighting and Vision wheels, plus custom front and rear bumpers. The stock spare tire carrier was cleverly converted into a fuel and water rack, adding even more utility for long hauls.

Personally and professionally, Art appreciates that his Bronco can take him absolutely anywhere, and, more importantly, bring him back.
“I travel solo in most cases, and you really need something that not only gets you out there, but can get you home, too.”
Whether chasing racers across desert dunes or crawling through remote canyons, Art’s Bronco, powered by BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, is more than a vehicle. It’s his office, his refuge, and his passport to the heart of off-road racing.
