Review Summary

The tires provide excellent traction and performance in a variety of conditions, including snow, rain, and off-road. They offer a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride on the highway, as well as good off-road capability and grip on loose surfaces. The tires are described as durable and long-lasting, with an aggressive yet attractive tread design. While a few customers reported some negatives, such as poor wet weather traction and excessive road noise, the majority of reviews are very positive, suggesting these are a reliable and capable tire choice.

Maybe my problem is that I needed the XL load for extra towing capacity but what is driving me crazy is a like buzz felt in the seat and floor not the steering wheel at all speeds seems to get better at 70+ no complaints on traction and handling had them re check balance road force and they check out ok. New 25 Ford F 150 with max tow packge

Durability for rough roads and a lot of miles

Living in the mountains on a somewhat rocky dirt road necessitates a solid tire. I recently replaced my 2015 Outback that had 200k miles, with a new, used Outback Wilderness. It came with brand new 3 peak rated tires, but they just looked too much like a tire that lives on paved roads, so I chose to have my fairly used, over 34k mile, Trail-Terrain tires transferred to the new car instead of the brand new tires. The Trail-Terrain tires are looking way better at this milage than previous brands I've had. They have the right amount of off road ability that I need, and have the 3 peak rating, although there is no driving up my steep dirt road when there is snow. They now have 40k miles on them and I am amazed at the longevity compared to others in the class that I've had.

Really Disappointing (winter performance mainly)

After hearing so many good things about BFG tires over the years I decided to get a set of the Trail terrain tires because on paper they were exactly what I wanted in a tire - a more on-road oriented all-terrain tire while still being 3-peak rated and good in the winter. While I am not overly impressed by the dry road performance, I could definitely live with. They definitely aren't the best handling tires but they are capable enough for some light off-roading and are fairly quiet on the road. I also thought that they would have a bit less rolling resistance translating to better fuel economy but that hasn't been the case for me. What I am extremely disappointed by is the winter performance. Over the past week, the roads near me have been snow covered and these tires are just awful in winter conditions. I previously had Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws and last winter with only aroun 40% tread life on them, they were way more predictable and better handling than these. They just don't seem to have enough biting edges side to side because the back end of my truck will just step out mid corner. I also spin far more from a stop than I did with my previous all-terrains. I honestly feel that these should not have a 3-peak rating because are no better in winter conditions than your average all-season tires and that is just not acceptable.

Avoid these in winter

I bought these and had them installed through Costco, for my F150. The first few weeks to a month the road noise was so loud I almost returned them. They did quiet down some, or I became used to them, in any case I kept them. Now we have just had our first real snow fall of the season, and my truck was sliding and spinning all over the road. They are horrible on starts from a stop and when cornering they are borderline unsafe. I was getting looks from other drivers around me, who were likely wondering what I was doing because I was sliding around so much. I bought these specifically for the weather rating and couldn’t be more disappointed in them. There is literally no ice on the road, only a light snow, and they are worse than the old all season I had on before!

Good, reliable tires

We've had these tires on our Yukon for 3 years, we've put over 100,000km on them. They perform great in all seasons as an everyday tire on our family hauler. They are nice and quiet. We live in Ontario, cold and snowy weather are not an issue. We just ordered our replacement set, going with the same tires.

The Worst of All Worlds

I have put 12,000 miles on these tires and am not impressed. I bought them because I wanted a tire that had road manners, but were still capable to do some exploring, these do neither well. On paved roads they are awful in the rain. They spin and slide at every stop light. In the snow they are just as bad. Often getting stuck in the typical unplowed parking lot. They were supposedly "designed to resist chipping and tearing on gravel" but it seems gravel is the greatest issue. Two separate tires have gotten punctures this month from nothing more than your typical gravel road. Both punctures split the tire and lost all air in a couple feet stranding me. This is not what would be expected from the "Trail Terrain." I would not recommend these tires to anyone as they are not good in inclement weather, mediocre on pavement and do not offer any advantage on the trail.

Complete shambles - Do not waste your time.

Worst tires ever. Avoid at all costs. The mechanics attempted for two days to install this dross on my truck to no avail. Had to switch to another set of four tires from another manufacturer.

Better options out there

On the plus side, they're quiet and have fairly low rolling resistance. Lousy wet traction, ok (not good) snow traction. 1 and a half years old, 12,000ish miles and sidewalls are already showing signs of cracking. Previous tire was Wildpeaks - better in every way but road noise (they got quite loud with wear) and mileage.

BFG trail terrain

Trail terrain tires: if you’re truck makes horsepower as my 3.5 ecoboost does 500 plus horsepower don’t waste your money they will not hook up in the rain I don’t care how much air you put in them they just won’t hook up. Really unhappy with these tires have about 22,000 on them and they don’t work on my truck actually think they are dangerous can’t wait to put Goodyears back on the truck so if you make real horsepower stay away from these tires
