Review for Canadian Tire (Location: Edmonton Capilano, AB 9847 - 50th Street NW Edmonton, Alberta, T6A 3X5) I recently had a very upsetting experience while shopping for Christmas gifts for my husband and kids at this Canadian Tire location. A member of the store’s security team followed me closely throughout the store, making me feel extremely uncomfortable and anxious. At every turn, he was right behind me, which made me feel unsafe, insulted, and disrespected as a paying customer. I am an honest shopper, and there was no reason for this behavior. Instead of feeling welcome during what should have been a joyful holiday shopping trip, I felt small, watched, and intimidated. Ultimately, I decided to leave without completing my purchase because I will not tolerate this kind of treatment. I hope the store’s management reviews this situation seriously and ensures all customers are treated with dignity and respect. Everyone deserves to feel safe and valued when shopping.

I had a ridiculous experience at this location yesterday. I was intending to buy party supplies for my son’s upcoming birthday party. I walked in the store and was immediately stopped by a security guard who requested to search my backpack. (I was coming home from work on the bus and often carry my laptop and other items with me. That’s the reason I was carrying a backpack) I complied, but i told him it seems strange to search my backpack BEFORE I’ve entered the store. After searching my bag, he let me go. I headed into the store, trying to find the Party City section . I got there, but before I could start even looking at anything, a staff member said something like “Do you know we don’t allow backpacks in the store?” No “hello” or “can I help you?” I informed him that I have already been searched by the security guard. I had been in the store for a total of a minute, maybe two, and already been made to feel like a criminal twice. It was obvious that my presence was unwelcome, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I walked back to the front of the store to leave, but I was stopped AGAIN by a third person, a different security guard. He informed me that they don’t allow backpacks. Why did the first guy let me take it in then? I told him that this feels like harassment and I just want to leave. Within the span of maybe 2-3 minutes, I was made to feel unwelcome and like a criminal 3 separate times by 3 different people in this store. Because of their hostile and apparently inconsistent theft prevention policies, the only thing they prevented was a sale.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS Arranged for an appointment to swap tires (rims already installed on the new tires). I informed them of the year and make of my car and was instructed to put the wheel lock in the cupholder (which I did). I was told I'd get a phonecall when everything was good. I returned to work and they had texted me that they need the lug nut cover tool to get access to the lugs. Since I didn't provide it, they couldn't do any work. This is frustrating because: 1) I can't be the first person with this model of car. Why wasn't I informed I had to find a proprietary "tool" to do the swap? 2) Why was I texted and not called? We could have troubleshooted over the phone instead of the tech just giving up at the first sign of challenges 3) No other tire shop has ever asked me to produce said tool. They had the critical thinking to resolve it themselves 4) The cover is a basic plastic piece that covers the lug nut. Why couldn't any other tool in the garage be used to remove it (i.e. needle nose pliers) I bring my car to get tires swapped by a business because I'm not a mechanic. The man working the service desk had the audacity to tell me "well you should know you need to have a lug nut cover tool". Maybe the BUSINESS should know more about cars than the customer.... 10/10 do not recommend. I'll just make the long drive to Kal-Tire, who are actual tire experts.
